The Executive Director of YONECO, MacBain Mkandawire, has Urged the youth in the country to move out of their comfort zones in order to enhance their welfare.

MacBain Mkandawire made the remarks in his presentation during a district commendation event for the International Youth Day (IYD) that was held on 18 September, 2021 at Robin’s Park in Zomba.

In his presentation, Mkandawire encouraged young people to venture into various productive activities like agriculture. In Malawi, just like many other countries, there are many young people who are currently unemployed. However, most young people do not consider self-employment as lucrative and farming is perceived as something for the old and uneducated people.

However, MacBain Mkandawire did his best to ensure that farming is attractive to the youth who attended the commemoration through a pavilion where he showcased various agricultural produce from his Donafegi Farm.

“As young people, you need to believe in your dreams and take action to achieve them,” Explained the Executive Director of YONECO.

The International Youth Day is an annual commemoration that is held on 12 August with the aim of drawing attention to a given set of cultural and legal issues surrounding youth.
