The Executive Director of YONECO, MacBain Mkandawire, was among the delegates who attended a High-Level Symposium on Harmful Cultural Practices affecting Children that was held today in Maseru, Lesotho.

The symposium was organized as part of the activities that have been lined-up across Africa to mark the commemoration of the 2022 Day of the African Child (#DAC).

Among other key issues, delegates agreed to ensure that children with disabilities are given the necessary care and protection as a number of harmful cultural practices are associated with them.

The theme for this year’s #DAC is “Eliminating Harmful Practices Affecting Children: Progress on Policy and Practice since 2013”.
