Vacancy: Finance Assistant

YONECO has programmes and projects in Zomba, Mchinji, Ntchisi, Mulanje, Thyolo, Phalombe, Chiradzulu, Mangochi, Machinga, Balaka, Ntcheu, Nkhata Bay and Rumphi. YONECO also has national programmes like the first ever child helpline in Malawi for the protection and promotion of child rights.  YONECO now invites applications from suitably qualified, dynamic and experienced persons to the fill the following positions which exist at YONECO Head Office in Zomba.

Purpose of the Position

The Finance Assistant is responsible for all routine financial and management accounting tasks. The main areas of responsibility are: Day-to-day financial transactions, reporting, compilation of financial information, and asset & stock control. The finance assistant writes payment vouchers and cheques controls petty cash and cash books, prepares staff salaries and expenditure summaries, maintains finance section data base and filing system, ensures easy and controlled access to financial records and transactions, compiles creditors lists and reconciles balances to suppliers’ invoices and payments, responsible for keeping accounts records, assists in preparation of financial reports, assists in compiling information for internal/external audit purposes, provides income and expenditures information to the Finance Officer at intervals determined by management , assists with provision of information for financial proposals and other fund-raising activities, assists in preparation of annual work plans and budgets for the section

 

Qualifications

The candidate should have a Diploma in Accounting with 2 years’ experience working in a busy environment
